How to Write a Crime Novel – Plot
When learning how to write a crime novel plot consider it to be something separate from the story that you are writing. It is the plot that creates your final story and one useful tip is to start at the end and work towards the beginning. Having an idea of where you are going will let you know how to get there. Start by making your plot by creating an outline that shows the things you want to see happen in the story. As you write the chapters, make sure the events meant to happen in that chapter take place. Make use of dynamic characters to keep the plot going. Their choices will influence the plot and make it interesting. If you feel like your plot is boring since you are learning how to write a crime novel, it is because your characters are not responding to the situations you have created for them. Lastly, be sure every action that takes place causes a reaction by the characters. Some actions may not pay off right at the start and a reader may wait until the end to find out the result of a certain action. The other thing to know when you are learning how to write a western novel is the basic utensils and equipment that were used in that time period. Know how they lit their fires, what types of guns and farming equipment they used and all that. In consideration of how to write a western novel, you should know about the land and the importance it played in the lives of people at that time. This is important because the storyline usually revolves around the conquest of land and the various hardships and struggles that families faced due to land.
