Wanderer’s, The Pt. 4

  • 9 February 2010 5:28 am

Todays movie is “The Wanderer’s” it has 12 parts. Enjoy. Adapted from Richard Price’s novel, THE WANDERERS is a coming-of-age story about five members of an Italian-American street gang in the Bronx in 1963. A soundtrack of classic doo-wop establishes the time and place, but it’s a time that is about to change, and a place that is about to disappear. Set on the eve of the Kennedy assassination, the eponymous gang lives through a dizzying succession of racial, cultural and generational conflicts marking the end of an age of innocence, as the greaser paradigm of the 1950s encounters the first angry folk-rock notes of the 1960s.

Actually the book of the warriors was all black/hispanic. It was intended to be like that in the movie, but the studio said the movie wouldn’t sell like that and needed white people in it, so the movie of the warriors is nothing like the book and walter hill has said he made the warriors more like comic book.
The wanderers is a lot like the book it was based on.

the warriors was also about almost 17 years in the future it was set. So race segregation was being frowned upon.
